The Devil Wears Prada Return For Dead Throne Tour Australia 2011
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA are set to return to Australia this October for a rapid fire run of shows in support of their fourth studio album Dead Throne. Michigan’s metal cross post-hardcore outfit WE CAME AS ROMANS and local juggernauts DREAM ON DREAMER will complete this impressive package.
Dead Throne, out September 9th on Roadrunner Records, is hailed as the uncompromising release that will mark the Ohio six-piece turning a corner and taking a confident step to the next level. More aggressive, more emotionally charged and sonically larger than previous releases, Dead Throne is characterised by a more pronounced focus on the band’s unique, punishing dual-vocal assault. THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA’s evolution musically and unwavering technical proficiency is seemingly effortlessly laid out in the razor-sharp, straight-ahead metal tracks that are utterly brilliant not only in their composition, but also in their flawless delivery. It has not been quiet on the tour front either for THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. They have racked up multiple European and UK tours already this year (including a main stage appearance at Download Festival) and notched up a healthy string of US dates, including slaying the main stage on Warped. Witness THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA’s renewed conviction when they take to Australian stages once again this October for their biggest Australian headline tour yet.
WE CAME AS ROMANS made their standout live debut on Australian soil at 2010’s No Sleep Til festivals. In the nine months that have passed the six-piece have been touring tirelessly, building on their already solid fanbase the old fashioned way. Seemingly addicted to the road and stage, the band have only paused long enough to record in brief windows between tours. WE CAME AS ROMANS returned to Foundation Recording Studio with their longtime friend and producer, Joey Sturgis [Asking Alexandria, Attack Attack!] for their sophomore effort. The new material carries the band’s signature sound of intricate guitar riffs, both mosh-worthy and melodic breakdowns, and the flawless intertwining of dual vocals from David Stephens and Kyle Pavone. Understanding What We've Grown To Be is due for release 16 September via UNFD.
It has been a big year already for young Melbourne band DREAM ON DREAMER, who will round out the Dead Throne Tour bill this October. Having signed to Powerhouse labels UNFD and Rise Records, they recently released their debut album Heartbound worldwide, reaching #38 on the ARIA Charts and getting the band attention from all over the world. These Australian dates come in between a mass worldwide tour including European, US and Japanese dates in support of the world release of the album.

Norse announces new session member and return to live scene
Extreme metal outfit NORSE - who is currently in the studio recording the follow-up to their 2010 debut full-length effort Hellstorm - has today announced the addition of new studio and live session bass guitarist Gavin Miller [Synperium] to their ranks.
Miller joins founding members Treelo Herrington and Robin ‘Frog’ Stone [The
Amenta] with session rhythm guitarist Shayne Querruel, who held their first rehearsal as a four piece earlier this month in anticipation of their forthcoming live shows, scheduled for August and September.
“We chose Gavin [Miller] to play bass as we know him well, both as a friend and a musician,” explained guitarist and vocalist Treelo Herrington. “Frog and I have both played in and out of bands with him since we were teenagers, he's not just well rehearsed as a musician but we get along great as well. He'll be touring with us and laying session bass tracks down on the album.”“We have been rehearsing hard with him to get ready for the upcoming shows,” added
Frog [drums] on the recruitment of Gavin. “We feel that NORSE is defiantly the strongest it has ever been at this point with every player being at the same level of musicianship and technical ability."
Entering the studio in the beginning of June 2011, NORSE is at present recording its sophomore album with engineer Harvey O’Sullivan, which is tentatively scheduled to be released at the end of this year and is “coming together as a darker and less thrash driven” effort than that of its predecessor, as explained by Herrington.
"After extensive writing and demoing sessions, we finally reached a point with the new material we were happy with and we were ready to start recording,” remarked Frog on the progress of the new album. “Treelo and Shayne have been hard at work tracking guitars... and next up will be drums/bass. We're hoping to have everything completed by October 2011.”
NORSE has announced two live shows during the band’s recording sessions, they are as follows:
21 August - The Gaelic Theatre, Sydney
3 September - Club Venom, Agincourt Hotel, Sydney

David Lynch plots solo debut
Visionary filmmaker DAVID LYNCH will make his solo debut as a musical artist this fall with ‘Crazy Clown Time’. Produced and written by Lynch, the album’s 14 original songs spotlight him on guitar and vocals.
Lynch recorded Crazy Clown Timeover several months at his own Asymmetrical Studio with engineer Dean Hurley, who contributes guitar and drums to several songs. The recording process, Lynch recalls, was filled with happy creative accidents. “There were so many accidents; this album should be in the hospital.”
The tracks released last year hint at the album’s range. The driving beat that powers “Good Day Today” also fuels “Stone’s Gone Up,” “Noah’s Arc” and “Strange and Unproductive Thinking.” While, the menacing shuffle of “I Know” also sends chills through “So Glad,” “Football Game” and “Pinky’s Dream”, which features Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Through the years, Lynch has collaborated frequently with others on various musical projects – composer Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks), Polish pianist Marek Zebrowski (Inland Empire), plus Sparklehorse and Danger Mouse (Dark Night of the Soul). Crazy Clown Time, however, marks the first time Lynch steps into the spotlight alone.
The result is a collection of dark songs Lynch has described as “modern blues.” Filled with foreboding soundscapes, hypnotic rhythms and enigmatic lyrics, Crazy Clown Timewill surely resonate with fans of Lynch’s films, but should also appeal to listeners who appreciate gloriously daring and quirky pop music.
Lynch’s passion for music has always figured prominently into his filmmaking, starting with his feature debut Eraserhead (1977) – which included “In Heaven,” a song he wrote with Peter Ivers – and continuing through to his most recent work, Inland Empire (2006) – which featured several tracks penned by Lynch.
Four years ago, motivated by his growing musical ambitions, Lynch became the eponymous creator of the David Lynch Music Company. Then, in 2010, he transformed his Web site (www.davidlynch.com) into an immersive digital archive the offers material released by David Lynch Music Company since its launch, plus unreleased singles, experiments and instrumentals created by Lynch and collaborators throughout the years.
Crazy Clown Time will be released in Australia on 4 November 2011 on Sunday Best Recordings via Shock.
